Problem with j-bass tuners

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, ive got this problem aswell as some buzzing coming from the a-string on my mim fender jazz bass.

Any ideas on how to fix/what the remedy would be for this--

Was setup like a month ago, had new strings put on and has always been tuned e-a-d-g.

Any help is appreciated.

Assuming the screws are all tightened properly, it looks like those tuners don't fit. Weird. Get yourself some Hipshot ultralites on there.

First de-string the instrument, then remove the tuners by removing the screws on the back side of the headstock. Then cover the ferrules (that raised part in the photos) with a piece of wood and tap the ferrules back in place with a hammer (hitting onthe wood block to prevent damage).

Even before you tap the ferrules into place, you might just try pressing them in with your fingers. If you can press them in with just finger pressure, they're too loose. Best then to take them out, coat them with with a little bit of glue and put them back in. Once the glue has dried thoroughly (overnight), remount the tuners. Should be OK then.
