problem with new washburn bass...

Hope this is the right forum for this question...

I just picked up a 5-string Washburn XB125 off a craigslist posting. The seller had the bass hooked up to his amp at his place and I tried it out there and it played beautifully, but when I took it home, I found myself unable to get any amplified sound out of it. It's not putting any sound through my practice amp, and it's not lighting up the signal light on my USB interface either. I know it has active pickups (which I am unused to), and I tried replacing the battery. Is there some trick to get the pickups to "turn on", or something equally obvious I am missing?

Update, if it helps. I tried pushing/pulling all the knobs, and checked the battery/preamp cavity for any signs of either a switch or loose wiring, and it's a negative on all counts. I'm really puzzled what could be going on; I suppose that something could have failed in the 3 minute drive between the seller's house and mine, but that certainly seems improbable. I'm puzzled.

Perhaps your cord is bad, or not fully seated? Just a guess.

Since the seller is so close, I'd ask him to come over and look at it.

Good luck!
