Pulling Inlays off

I've got a BC Rich NJ Mockingbird Bass that I've recently Defretted and I also want to Dye the Fretboard Black(or as Dark as I can get) I want to keep the White Diamond Inlays, is there anyway I can pull them off and reglue them with out destroying them or am I going to have to buy new ones?

Most inlays are thin as well as well glued. I would rate it next to impossible to remove them without destroying them. I would try masking them before applying the dye first. You never know.

No reason to over-engineer the problem.

Dye the fingerboard. Do not mask off the inlays. When the fingerboard has taken all the dye that it will wipe off the excess. Let dry. Burnish the board with 0000 steel wool. It will remove the dye from inlays. Oil the fingerboard. The work is complete.
