Purple Heart Fretboard

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a purpleheart fretboard on my warrior. I am going through and tuning it up, new strings, etc. and I wanted to oil the board. It looks really dried out. Wha kind of oil would I use on purple heart?

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Lemon oil is good..

Pretty much any liquid wood wax product that doesn't have silicon in it should be okay.

I really like Howards Feed-N-Wax, it is a combination of beeswax, orange oil and caranuba wax. Very nice stuff, and you can find it at Home Depot....

Lemon oil actually tends to dry stuff out over time.
I would use rubbing alcohol and a rag to clean it up, then put boiled linseed oil (if it's not boiled it will really stink!) on the board afterwards.
I don't like using anything waxy on my fingerboards, YMMV of course.
best,
LM
