put an ibanez neck on my jazz?

i love my american jazz bass to death, but i'm not especially crazy about the neck. i don't remember quite exactly what model of ibanez bass i was playing a while back, but i seemed to be getting around better on the neck than i do most basses. so i'm highly considering a swap. i feel like the benefit of comfort is worth the pain of getting this job done. however, i'd like a little insight on the matter.

would i be sacraficing tone by doing this? i wouldn't want to chance ruining my sound.

i don't trust myself to do this kind of job. what kind of labor expense would i be looking at?

i searched the net a bit and i didn't really find a good source for ibanez replacement necks.
