putting badass 2 on bass will it mess up my finish

Sign in to disble this ad
i have a fender jaguar bass in hotrod red and i have a badass i was about to sell on ebay(long story of how i got it). i have never tried it but wouldn't mind. it seems to fit screw wise on the jag but it is bigger than the original and i was wonder if puttong the bridge on would cause any damage to the finish if i decided to take it back off and put the original back on.

Depends on type of finish, how long + tight the new bridge is on. I've seen them come off clean, or take the whole paintjob with them.

i put a badass 2 on my P-bass about 3 years ago.. i suspect that once you put it on, you wont want to take it off.

I wouldn't. I can't say how much, but changing how the bridge contacts the body will change the tone. Besides, you only need to worry about it trashing the finish if you leave it on there for a good, long while.

And, as above, I can't imagine you're really going to want to get rid of it once you have it. They are nice.

you put paper under it and you have to make sure you put the ground on the side of the bridge... I dont really see what the big deal with badass2 bridges are. I dont notice much of a difference. I have had a badass 2 on my j bass for like 7 years now because the stock bridge failed.

I put one on my Jazz and took it off after about a year and it left a indent in the paint.
Don't bother with the thing. Sell it.

Take the money and run.

Unless you want a BIG square indent in your paint.

Sure, you can put a sheet of paper or something under it. Make your decision fast, cuz chances are that it will mark.

Me? I sold the only one I ever had and put the stock bridge back on.

Yes if you overtighten it it will leave an indent, like any bridge that is put on with an iron grip. Use a tiny bit of wood glue and just snug it down good. Don't crank at it or use a drill.

too bad, you shoulda sold it 6 months ago when they were going for $200 on ebay.

now they're back in production, and prices are coming back to normal.

either way, yes it will leave a mark in the finish (i wouldn't call it "damage", though).
