Putting BEAD on my Geddy sig

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a Geddy Lee that I put in BEAD(I just dont have a use for the G string). It also has passive Bartolinis. The bass just sounds quiet now. I dont know if thats descriptive enough or not but even with both volumes wide open and my amp near the top I cant get any punch out of it. It just seems quiet. Do the pickups need to be raised?
Also,Ive read a lot about having to loosen the truss a bit especially when putting on a tuning like this one. How do you if you need to do that? What symptoms do you look for?
Using .115 Boomers for the low B. Thanks

The barts are made to be used with a preamp,so they will be weaker.I'd go with the original pickups,or a set of basslines Antiquity 2's.If you using BEAD tuning, you've more than likely loosened the tension on the neck, which means you have less relief on the neck.Look down the neck and if it's high in the middle, turn your truss rod to the left about 1/4 turn, and see what changed.Keep tweaking in small steps until you get it where you want it.
