a question about fretboards

I bought a used Fender p-bass and it was made in Mexico. I know precisions come with either a maple or rosewood fretboard but is there any way to tell which kind you have?

Maple looks like the light colored wood that makes up the main body of your neck.
Rosewood is a darker brown wood with an open grain (little pores you'll be able to see when you look at it).
