Question on what to fill old screw holes with?

Sign in to disble this ad
hello TB:
I'm currently messing around with an old ibanez sdgr and am replacing the truss rod cover.

the holes on the new cover don't perfectly align although they are dang close.

what i want to do is fill the holes and redrill... this will result in redrilling within a mm or two of the old holes. is this too risky to try?

i'd like to know what filler you'd recommend using in the holes, and from there i should be fine. i've drilled screw holes in basses before, and am experienced in mods/ luthier work. just figured i'd better get a consensus on what a good filler would be.

thanks-- B'bak

use a wooden dowel rod. Find one that fits the best, glue in with titebond, and cut off. That will give you a solid surface to drill into .
