Questions about neck shimming and my set up

Sign in to disble this ad
So my neck developed a bow, and I finally got to take it in to get fixed today. Never messed with the set up, so its still straight from the factory. The guy who looked it over said the truss should be where it is, and Im running out of room on my saddle. So he told me I needed a neck shim. Will this require me to buy a new bass or neck next time I need to fix a bowing? Seeing as how there is little to no wiggle room. maybe a new bridge? I know next to nothing on such matters. I should get it back Friday or Saturday so I can give you guys/gals (respectively) more info then. Thanks for any info.

ESP EX-104 would be the bass

if you mean your saddles are as low as they can get, take a couple thin pieces of card stock(strips cut from your least favorite business card, remove your neck, and place the 2 little strips at the front of the neck pocket( surface the screws go through and closest to the bridge) replace neck, and restring, you will now be able to raise your saddles to a normal position.

Neck bow=trussrod.

Neck angle=shim heel.

Your tech is an idiot. Get it away from him.
