Quick string height question

Sign in to disble this ad
When I'm setting the string height (after adjusting the truss rod for proper relief), do I measure the height from the bottom of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string or the middle of the string? Right now, I have it set so the height is the same across all four strings measuring from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string, but the bridge saddles sure do look strange! The E and G saddles are considerably lower than the A and D saddles. I'm using a ruler that measures in 32nds and 64ths, BTW. Thanks!

the saddle height is due to the fingerboard radius; that is normal

Okay, so is it the middle or bottom of the string? A one-word answer will suffice!

I think most people use feeler gauges, so the answer would be from the fret to the bottom of the string.

Me? I don't measure my string height. I go as low as I can go without buzz.
