Raising the action on a Gibson style bridge
What can you do to raise the bridge on jack casady/gibson style bridge without chewing up the gigantic the screws? A philips screwdriver is not the precise tool for the job.
Loosen the strings before you use a blade screwdriver to raise the bridge.
I wrap tape on the screwdriver blade and go slowly.
It seems to work.
this is the proper tool but they can be pricey, especially for something that won't be used very often. stewmac sells them
I use a coin.
And YES, loosen the strings first.
And no crazy differences in turn amounts: half turn move to the next, half turn move to the front; half turn
AND keep the front bolt slightly higher than the back two. Lower puts too much pull on the back bolts and they can pull the threaded inserts right out of the body.
