rargh straplocks

I got a set of Proline straplocks today for my Squier VM fretless, because I needed a strap for it and apparently they don't make straps with locks on the end anymore. I got a nice leather RockSteady strap, and I got the straplock on the horn in nice and easy. But the other one- I put in a toothpick, and installed the straplock, and tugged on it lightly, and it came right out, along with the toothpick. Does it need more toothpicks? Or something else- the original strap button slides in and out, with no thread grip at all, as does the new one.

I'm getting the impression that strap locks are a scam, at least these are.

More toothpicks and a touch of Elmer's glue should do the trick.

Took three toothpicks, but no glue. It did the trick, thanks!

You are probably going to need glue to make sure it stays in since those tooth picks will get worn out and jsut come out and that would be bad during a show

hah, what show?

I'm joking, but still, getting gigs for an original band in Georgetown, Kentucky has proved difficult so far.

Now I just need to figure out how to work the strap.

Add glue. Toothpicks aren't very hard wood. They WILL pull loose.

If you can, use the hard tooth picks, you know, the ones that are not flat, but round. Those are harder, or at least initially more compacted so they have less give.
