Not sure if this goes here, but I have a Yamaha 5-string and the first few frets seem to rattle occaisonally, and I'm not sure if it's a bad stringing job or an actual problem which needs repair. Can anyone help?

Assuming you mean fret buzz, where the strings rattle against the frets, start here:

ALL BASIC SETUP QUESTIONS ANSWERED HERE

I prefer the Mr. Gearhead link, but they are all pretty sound.

The first goal is simply to measure your relief and report back. If I had to guess from what you've said so far, I might say that your neck might need more relief...

...your neck needs a LITTLE more relief. I mean, a VERY LITTLE BIT, to start with. Are you okay with trussrod adjustments?
