Re-Fretting

I'm going to put together a Precision...I have my old '69 rosewood neck which like all knuckleheads I ripped the frets out of during my Jaco phase. The wood isn't very chipped up at all, It's in pretty good shape. Heads need polish and the like.

How much should this cost?

I'd like to make a sunburst, tortise shell pickguard, rosewood neck with stock pickups Precision.

Like it should be.

Do you know how to do fretwork? If not take it to a luthier that knows what they are doing so you don't destroy the neck. As for the rest of it, No way to tell on cost, there are so many parts companies out there from Mighty Mite, AllParts and WD to Warmoth, USACG, and Musikraft that it could be anything from $350 to $1000 all depending on how you approach it

Once again looking ay who is doing it, it can be between $150 and $300 depending on what all needs to be done. Do the slots need to be re-cut, does the board need to be resurfaced, need nut? Any refinish work? A lot to take
Into account to get an accurate quote. Also you might want to talk with Jauqo about a luthier in Chicago that can do a great job for you.

really good fretwork is the biggest thing that will make an instrument feel like a million bucks; don't skimp or DIY here, get it done right the first time.

the good news is that a rosewood board is way easier to work on than a finished maple board. there's no reason the neck can't end up better than it ever was.
