Real neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I purchased a neck off a guy and cant tell if its real..aside from the fact that its old and beat up the fender logo seems like a decal and the tuners dont say fender or anything on them...any ways to see what this is?

I'm pretty sure it's a real one. Virtual necks are pretty hard to find.

Post some pics.

if by "real" you mean "vintage" or even "higher end reissue", then no, not with that truss rod hole.

vintage decal + import-style truss rod access = homebrew creation

Could be a modified Mex. Decal doesn't look right, but camera flash will sometimes reveal things not noticed by naked eye. Headstock looks "wide" as in 70's era, but it's no original 70's neck.

I'm no expert on Fender basses, but I was at a guitar show not so long ago where a stall sold fake necks & also single transfers. Your logo does tbh look like one of them. Is the "gold" a real metallic colour, or just a sandy brown? Is the text pin sharp or thickened up?
Can't be sure of the year cos I don't know much on Fender basses as I said, but I guess it should be looking like this?

here's another one like your style, but looks like the truss rod adj is at the body end?

Those inflatable necks are the worst.

could still be a fender, but not a reissue with the headstock truss rod access. what size wrench does it take?

3/16" = mexican standard

4mm or 5mm = far east import, a squier of some sort

Almost but not quite looks like the japan '75 reissue, but the truss rod still looks off.
