Realistic violin bass neck twist

Sign in to disble this ad
So a month ago, a guitarist buddy of mine who loves old cheapos was checking out my Realistic violin bass, and pointed out that the neck was twisted a little to the treble side starting at the peghead end and a little to the bass side starting at the body end. At the time I was pretty unconcerned about it because it plays and feels pretty good for a cheap old bass from 1968 that was neglected for a while. But now I'm getting paranoid over it. So a few questions:

1. How concerned should I be? Like I said, it plays nicely and stays in tune like a rock.

2. Is this bass doomed eventually?

3. Is there anything I can do to keep it from twisting more?

Enjoy it.

After over 40 years I think that's a moot point.

I wouldn't do anything other than ordinary care.

As lug said, people pay serious money for that as a feature nowadays! If it plays nicely and feels solid, I'd be willing to bet there is nothing to worry about...

it moved so much in 40 years. I would start to worry in about 30 more years. That being said i would not put heavier strings on it and push the issue.
