I took my 66 in to have it set up by a respectable luther here in Columbus.
Let me explain.
It's a bit of a Frankenstein.
A real ,honest to goodness DEC 66 Neck with blocks and binding ,a painted headstock(very yellowed olympic white).
a incorrect ash body from the 70's and EMG's.
After severail conversations with him , we decided to restore the bass.
He's plained the neck, repaired the binding in one area and refretted it as well. The neck turned out killer.
I've located a proper bridge and covers.
I've switched to Fralins and dumped the EMG's.
Now I'm try to locate a 4lbs or less ALDER body.
The plan is to have him paint and age the body to match the headstock.
He tells me it will look like the body and neck had been together all it's life.
I'm not trying to missrepresent it or nor am I even considering selling it.
This bass has seen some really big name people. We've been through a lot together.
It's just a very old friend that needs some TLC.
