Recommendations for Luthier or Guitar Tech in Phoenix Area?

Sign in to disble this ad
I do most of my own set up work; but, there is some fret dressing that I need to have done to a couple of my Fenders. Anyone have any recommendations for reliable set up people in the phoenix area?

Thanks

I'm having Brian Lewis do some epoxy and finishing on a new fretless neck. He is a sole proprietor, trained at Roberto Venn. I checked out his shop and some past work, and he's been great about communication.

He can be reached at 602-680-8084. Tell him "George the Fireman" sent ya. His shop is in Chandler, off the 101.

He's got about 30 coats of lacquer on it and is doing the epoxy and buffing. I should see him tomorrow, so I'll snag some photos. He's been great during the process...which is super important to me.

I'm guessing the whole process will be done in a week or so.

If you're near the I-17 & Dunlap, there is a shop called Guitar Electronics about a block east. They do amp repairs there too. It is my #1 go-to shop. They are incredibly knowledgeable and do fantastic work. They are also great guys. A bit pricier than taking it to Guitar Center or something, but you will get your money's worth.

Were his epoxy prices reasonable? I'm debating whether or not I want to do the epoxy myself on my fretless 6er.

I think I'm at $160 for lacquer finishing a raw warmoth neck and epoxying the maple fingerboard. The process was delayed a bit for some additional curing time. I dunno which specific epoxy he used or how much it cost.

Tempe, so Brian sounds like my go to. Pics would be sweet :) Considering an epoxy job on a rosewood fingerboard, but at the least, a pro setup and eyeball after some major mods.
