hello everybody! i just bought this beautiful spalted maple p bass body from spaltking guitars and i lack the knowledge of the type of finish that would be best for the bass i'm building. i want a more natural, matte look to it. i was either thinking oil or a satin finish. all replies are greatly appreciated!!!! thanks!!!

A satin polyurethane will be the most durable finish but requires the most work to apply. Tru-Oil (Birch Casey gunstock oil) makes a fantastic finish and is very easy to apply. It is less durable than poly but protects better than just using oil. An oil and wax (Tung Oil or boiled linseed oil followed by wax) finish would be the easiest to apply but the least protective.
