Will this effect the sustain or tone when I do a refret? I'm wondering if i'll get more sustain out of it after the re-fret, seems a little dead...

You dont need a refret unless your frets are so ground down that there are thick dents in them from where the strings go. The frets could also used to be reshaped.

Anyone know if there is a moldable drying compound of some kind which could fill those in and be as strong as the fret material?
