Question Remove Pickguard

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello! I am a newbie and I am planning to buy a Fender Stantard Jazz Bass Fretless (Mexico). The question I want to ask is if I remove the pickguard will it be a problem to the bass?

No problem. It may not be the prettiest under there though. Sometimes the MIM fenders have routing holes and such.

Its just that, probably, the look of the bass will not be as good as you think...

but it won't get any harm to your bass either

+1
Thought I'd take mine off to take a look-see (or maybe I was trying to look like Jaco... I can't remember ) and there was a big 'ol hole in the most random place. That put an end to that real quick.

I took the pickguard off my MIA J expecting it to be a nice look, but it's all routed. I didn't know they did that with the MIA's. Bummer. An olympic white J V with no pickguard would have been sexy.

I think the Highway one don't have any routing under the pickguard.

Even if there is no routing, there are still all those screwholes left over.

In Fender Frontline 2009, when in debuted, its says ...shielded body cavities.. Does it mean that the routing will be covered?

No. There will be a thin layer of shielding lining the bottom of the route
