Sign in to disble this ad
Pulled off the stock bridge on my Vintage Modified Jazz bass to replace it and I find a peculiar hole with...a wire sticking out? What's up with this?

Should I just ignore it or what?

Never mind. I feel like an idiot.

It is a grounding wire. If you have internet, you can find out what it does.

Oh. That makes some good sense.
I've just never seen that before.
Thanks.

That's supposed to be there. Don't worry about it. Leave it alone and put your new bridge on.

No biggie- a truly dumb question would've been *what did the wire I just removed do?*

It's a worm hole and a wire they used to fish the worm back out.

Haha. I agree, that is definitely one of the better examples of that Squier model I've seen. Nice bass.

it's a fair question. I too once said "What the...." when I saw it. Kudos to the OP for having the care and interest for taking the bridge off in the first place. Shame on you that ridicule him!

Now wait till you take off the pickguard and find a hole that isn't a route for anything and serves no purpose at all. At least that's how my 2002 mim jazz is. I think it's for hiding weed.

Oh man, I thought you were going to say it leads to another dimension.

Hey, everyone wants a 7 lb Jazz Bass. It's their way of helping you get there.

It is cool and it does lead to another dimension, however the dimension it takes everyone to is determined solely by the fingers of the owner...

Frick, then the massive hole under my pickguard must have a whole new civilisation in it.
