The previous owner of my 83 Foundation put some nail polish to mark his fave settings (10 on the neck pup, 0 on the bridge, 0 on the tone, which is sorta dumb on this bass).
I would like to remove it. What product should I use which would not harm the polish? Not too worried about the metallic knobs. Thanks!
See photo below. It's been on there for ages (like 20 years):

Agree with 62, you should test it under the pickguard (if equipped, I can't get pictures on this computer) or something out of the way. Untreated woods shouldn't be exposed to it a lot though, it does dry things out. QUestion though, why the would you need to mark those settings? Thats full on one and full off the others, isn't it. Dang, thats hard to remember.

Dang, thats hard to remember. | Oh well, no comment about the former owner, it's my bass now.
The Super Ferrites get a lot of noise unless you put them at about the same level, then they cancel each other.
This bass could be a virgin bass, as really I have the 2 volumes at 10 all the time.
I will try some nail polish remover. Need to pick up some at the pharmacy today, as I am not a cross dresser.

But acetone is just as easy to find as is lacquer thinner. They're more economical in the end if you use large amounts. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
