Removing rust from pickup poles

Sign in to disble this ad
The poles on one of my pickups are starting to show a little rust. Any tips on how to remove this rust and prevent it from re-forming?

The poles are basically allen screws and it would be pretty easy to remove them from the pickup completely (for cleaning) but I'm not sure what the best thing is to do with them once their out.

Thanks!

chances are you can get the rust off with a pencil eraser.

Chances are you could stop the rust from reforming if you painted them with some clear nail polish.

Chances are you could find replacement set screws at any decent hardware store. Probably in stainless steel.
