Removing stain from maple fingerboard?

Hi all, I have a Fender Cal. P-Bass Special that has a fingertip-sized grease smudge on the maple fretboard. Last time I let anybody touch my bass before they wash their hands! The guy who did a recent set-up said it adds "mojo", but that ain't the mojo I seek. Other than sanding it out, anyone have any ideas on how to remove this blemish?

Maple, once the finish is removed, stains pretty easily. I assume you're talking about a place where the poly finish has been worn through?

Otherwise, you shouldn't have a problem getting a finger-dirt stain from the fretboard.
