Removing tuner ferrules-help please

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi- I'm in uncharted waters here, removing Fender style tuners from a neck. I'm down to the pressure fit insert/ferrules which are in there tight. I'd appreciate tips on getting them out without marring metal or wood.

Figgered it out meself. Dropped in a washer slightly smaller than the hole, found a nutdriver slightly bigger than the hole in the washer, and gave it a few whacks with a hammer. Pop, pop, pop, pop, done.

Hi.

Excellent way to do it with cheap readily available tools.

Ponticat, please post the image tags, or better yet the images to this thread also for easier viewing, people tend to be lazy .

-100 for the hammer method.

Emblymouse, if the ferrules were tight and You didn't chip the wood, consider yourself lucky. A chip like that is really easy to repair, but IMHO unnecessary, really.

Just my 0.02€
