repacement bridge for fender

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a bridge to replace the string-through body bridge on my '97 MIA P. I'd like to put some La Bella Jamersons on there and they are to stiff to string through the body. I don't want to drill any holes or modify the bass. No need for anything fancy as I'm content with the usual lightweight fender bridges. Any recommendations?

How about a standard Fender bridge? No fit problems, no holes for string-through.

Labella says their strings are not to be used for string-through, although I am aware that many folks do it.

How about the Gotoh Standard replacement?

Looks like a great bridge and a great price!

Will your bass accept an American Standard bridge?
If so you have the option of string through body and from the bridge only.
If you don’t mind the expense, the Hipshot A should drop right on too.

I don't know what bridges are exact fits, thats what I'm asking I guess. What's American standard? Fender?

I'm not entirely sure, but I thought that the bridge Fender used on MIAs in 1997 is the same as the one they used up until 2007, which has both body through or bridge stringing. Either way, I think it is still the same screw hole pattern they use now, so you could upgrade to the newer Fender high mass bridge if you wanted to. You can find it here: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/b...uinefender.htm It is the third one on the bottom row of this page.

A USA Deluxe Fender Precision/Jazz bridge is a direct replacement for the USA Fender Standard Precision/Jazz produced in the mid-late 90s. It offers top-load and string-through.

I've mounted the Deluxe bridge on a '98 USA Fender Standard Jazz bass years ago. Here is the only picture I could find on the Internet of the Deluxe bridge.
Listing from E-bay -

Fender's new High-Mass bridge does appear to have the same screw hole mount pattern.

I don't know but it's definitely string-through body only. That high-mass bridge looks nice!

nah, it's the same mass, but the materials are reversed, with the deluxe version having brass saddles and a steel plate.

DLX CHROME
BASS BRIDGE

005-8396-000
Genuine Fender USA Deluxe Series bass bridge in chrome finish. This bridge is a direct replacement for USA Deluxe Basses, and is also a bolt-on replacement for string-through two saddle bridges used on Tele bass and 50's P Bass. Replacement allows for more precise intonation adjustment and better tone transfer. Features heavy plate design with stainless steel multi-grooved saddles

Is this the same bridge? Heavy Plate design, I would assume by that statement it's slightly more mass?

Yes.

That statement "Heavy Plate design" is a bit misleading. The deluxe bridge has a thicker plate while it has the added feature of four holes for top load. They weighed near same in hand.

Thanks for the heads up

I think I'll try this one for 32.00 USD, or maybe in black for 40.00. Looks much more high mass.

...then again I could just drill four holes in the bridge that's already on there. Even with taking the bridge off the bass I can't see it taking more than a half hour. The only downsides would be slightly (negligible) less mass and the possibility of screwing it up and having to buy a new one, which would cost me $40. Any problems foreseen with this tactic?
