Hello, wel here is my prob I just bought a Fender MIJ P Bass, its from the late 80's so it has a lot of mark and dings, I have been thinking of maybe send it to a Luthier so he repaints the bass and maybe pick another color (3 sunbrust) those anyone knows how much does it cost?? and how hard is it? so maybe I can save some bucks by doing it myself

Doing it yourself is tough to get a good result without some experience doing wood finishing. It can be done but you'll need to do a bit of studying first. Check out the Reranch site, for one.

Around here getting a refinishing job done by a pro would be about $300. I'm not sure what it would cost where you live. Call around and find out who does it and what they would charge.

Go directly to Reranch.com and check it out for all the info you need. A quality refin will cost anywhere from $500 to over $1000. You can do it yourself, but it means 20+ hours of labor and having a place to work, plus a couple of weeks (at least) when the bass is not usable.
