I've two spots worn to bare wood on back of neck on the Sadowsky NYC PJ5. Palm of my hand slightly grabs on those spots as they are fresh..

Q: Would you have it repaired it OR leave it alone ??

If it altered or hindered my playing, yes, I would make some kind of repair. No need to be perfect, just playable, its still Mojo.

Leave it, I like the look of a played bass.

Just put some oil on the spots or something. I don't see any reason for a big "repair," if by that you mean having the neck refinished.

yup like rdwoody said...id take a cloth and rub the back with some tru oil...some people pay big bucks for those wear spots...LOL!....I refinished a guitar neck with tru oil and love it., but it should work fine to just smooth out those dry spots a bit.

YAZ or NAZ

Appreciate the feedback.. so far the Naz have it.

But it's a Sadowsky damn it!!
I don't mind wear on relic jazz and vintage basses but my hang up is it's still relatively new.. oh well I need to get over that!! and even Roger S has replied that It is no problem other than cosmetic if you naturally wear through the finish
Add to my neurosis a friend of mine is a repair tech who can shoot some nitro and rub it out, very little $$

I believe the neck finish is nitro - check with Roger. If it is, i would give it a light shot of nitro, rub it out and you're good for another 10,000 clicks or so. Assuming your friend is good at shooting nitro. Keep the coating light though.

Send a message via Yahoo to RMay
or apply a Tru oil gun stock to the bare spots and then finish up with a touch of gun stock wax after, but it is not necessary.
