Repairing finish on maple 'board

Sign in to disble this ad
I guesss I dug in a little too far this morning when i was practicing and *somehow* my E string dug into the finish on my fingerboard after the last fret (closest to the heel). Is it possible for me to touch up that spot with super glue like dan erlewind uses to finish that fretless fingerboard in bassplayer a couple months ago? Is the finish over my MIA fender essentially the same as his project? I just don't want this to get out of hand, I saw a little saw dust on my pickguard.

I'll post pictures if I have to.

Thanks,
Chris

I know nothing of this type of repair HOWEVER if you are to use an epoxy on that fretboard, pa-lease MAN use a high quality product NOT superglue. A local luthier will likely set you up with the proper two part if its $$$ to buy.

I'm not talking about epoxying the whole fretboard, just repairing a little piece of the finish by the heel where it appears that i either A) dug too hard with a pick, or B) somehow slapped so hard that the string went down to the wood. It's less than a centimeter sq. in area, so it's cosmetically insignificant; I just don't want this to get worse and have everything exposed.

I think buffalobass was just cautioning against epoxying my whole fretboard with superglue; i mean, he's right, there are better materials, but I'm just doing this little ittybitty spot. I'm just waiting for the second coat to dry, then I'm going to wet sand the spot, and while I have the neck off, install some insert nuts.
