Repairing lifting/peeling finish

I just picked up a sweet Pedulla Rapture RB-4 with a Candy Apple Red finish. Overall it's in very good condition but right around the edge of the neck plate and the bridge the finish is cracking and lifting up. I did a search here and looked in Dan Erlewine's repair book but most info is on filling chips and dings or refinishing.

Would superglue work, or is something else recommended? Should I remove the bridge and neck plate or would this risk ripping off the paint beneath? I got this to be a rock&roll "player" bass and don't won't to spend much money on the process. Thanks!

If it's a player bass, can you just leave it? It will get more dings soon enough...

A refinish is the only practical option. Just gluing down chips will result in an even worse looking finish down the road. I tend to agree with ZomieGhosTrain: it's already broken in.
