Question Repairing my Yamaha RBXJM6 after a nasty fall - what lacquer to use ???

Sign in to disble this ad
my bass had a fall a few weeks back and finally got around to fixing it.. part of the body around the electronics cavity fell off clean and ive glued it back using animal hyde glue..

once I have it structurally sound, i plan on fixing up the cracks in the finish by giving it a few new coats of clear lacquer and buffing up to a nice sheen

any advice on what type of lacquer to use? i've heard nasty tales of people using the wrong type and the chemicals recting badly and making a horrible mess of the underlying finish...

appreciate any thought on the matter..

thanks,

Hugh

changes are that the finish is nice modern polyester or polyurethane, and those are not like lacquer where the new finish would melt into the old. So unless you refinish the whole thing, spot repairs are usually best left alone, you can try to fill the chips with super glue and such...
