The strap button on the upper horn of my Lakland Skyline JO5 has stripped, so it comes out from time to time. Not all the way out, but out enough to make me uncomfortable. What is a good permenant repair for this. I've heard of the matchstick method, but that doesn't seem like a good fix. |

It's real wood to fill the hole, rather than some kind of glue that could be troublesome. A toothpick almost always provides a permanent solution. Aftermarket strap locks often have smaller screws, which is rediculous considering the reasons one buys them to begin with. Yep. Toothpick.

I've heard of the matchstick method, but that doesn't seem like a good fix. | Iv'e always used a small length of plastic insulated electrical wire,poke it down the hole and get the measurement,cut it to size and then simply screw the strap button back in,if it's still loose,you will need a thicker piece of wire,in 25+ years of playing i have never had a problem when i used this method to fix it,no messy glue or anything,and you can get it out anytime if you need to,for instance if you decide to sell the guitar and replace the original strap buttons,hope this works for you,it's simple and very strong,the wire acts like a rawl plug,good luck.  ;
