Replace bridge on SR305DX

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had an Ibanez SR305DX for quite some time now (too long actually, I need a new bass very soon) and need to do some work on it. I'm saving up for a new bass, but until then need to make sure this is in the best possible playing state. The alignment on the pins (there is probably a better term for this, essentially the springs that the strings sit on) are not level and it appears that, somehow, one of the adjusting screws has fallen out...

I thought about changing and upgrading the bridge, but that's a new area to me. Are there any recommendations on a bridge replacement or anything I should be looking for?

At a minimum, you need to watch:
  • String-spacing
  • Saddle height

Ideally, you'd get a bridge that uses the existing holes; otherwise you need to fill the holes and re-drill. Path of "least pain" would probably be to get an actual Ibanez replacement part.

Yea that's what I'm thinking I'll probably do. Now to find some pickups that will work well in the bass.
