Replace Fender nut with a JAN III

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone ever attempted to do this?

I'm getting more buzzing than I'd like on my bass. The truss rod is in the right place the neck doesn't need any shimming. I adjusted the saddles but they're getting too high.

Some of you may remember I had problems with a twisting neck but that's all better now or at least as good as it can get at the moment.

The JAN III is wider (head to bridge) than the fender, does sand paper work on synthetic materials and would a synthetic's structural integrity be compromised if I did this?

I think the JAN was 2/16 wider when I measured? I can't remember off the top of my head...

Sounds a bit like you need to check the frets for level, and perhaps add a shim to change the angle of the neck.

I'd have the frets checked and leveled before messing with the nut.
