Replacement body sources?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a couple of bodies at the moment (a J and a P) but I want them already refinished (I'm looking for some oldschool Fender colours like Fiesta Red/Surf Green etc). There's a guy on ebay - his shop is called The STRATosphere - that looks pretty good, but I wondered if there are other sources that people use for this kind of thing. He certainly seems a little cheaper than say Warmoth although I realise that's one other place I can try - especially if I want to bite the bullet and place a custom colour order.

Thanks in advance!

I was looking for the same thing a while back. All the beat up crap on E-bay is "vintage" and they want an arm and a leg for it. I found the StratOsphere as well, and their prices are better, but I still didn't bite. I just ended up buying a whole crappy bass. It turned out to be cheaper than a body and a neck ala carte.

Yeah, but just a little more expensive than I'm prepared to pay at the moment. It does seem like there's a gap in the market between the very cheap unfinished bodies and the Warmoth-like ones at the top end.

AllParts and Stewart Mcdonald have finished bodies but I don;t know if they have the colors you are looking for.
Here is a good link to parts suppliers:

It's a little hard to find finished bodies in those old colors without paying quite a bit. I've purchased from this guy http://cgi.ebay.com/SALE-genuine-FEN...QQcmdZViewItem a few times with good results and sometimes he has a fiesta red. I can't remember the last surf green I've seen anywhere.
I would buy an unfinished body from warmoth or stewmac (the mightymites are fine too) and do it yourself with help from these guys: http://home.flash.net/~guitars/ they have those old colors.
