Replacement bridge for 60's jazz bass

I have a mim classic series j bass, it features a vintage style bridge, It's falling apart on me, so it's time to find a replacement.

Durability is the #1 priority, but an improvementin tone won't hurt. I know alot of people disagree on a bridge's effect on tone, but let's put that aside for now.

I've had good luck with hipshot products, but I don't have any preference between the three applicable birdges they offer, I'm willing to try a badass bridge, or a gotoh as well, and just about anything else.

I want something that is solid but not too heavy, so far i'm leaning towards alluminum as opposed to brass. I know some birdges come with an alluminum base plate and brass sadles as well. What are your experiences with tonal differences between alluminum and brass. I'v heard that brass offers more solid low wend, while alluminum accentuates mids and highs. I definitely don't want any pinginess coming from my bridge, but then I'd like something lightweight. The brass bridge on ym old yamaha bb was MASSIVE in weight.

I'd also like a direct replacement, I'd like to install the bridge myself. I don't have too mcuh past experience, just lifted off the bridges on some of my basses for cleaning, taken them apart, and reset them later.

Thanks for your help guys

My preference is for the Fender vintage or '75RI bridges. They work for me and I've never had a problemns with them "falling apart". I've use a BAII, but the thing is heavy a hell and I didn't like the flavor it added to my tone. A kind of "middle-weight" between those is the Gotoh 201 (my teacher swears by them). They're a direct replacement for the Fender standard 5-screw bridges. I have yet to try one, but it might be the answer you're looking for.
