Replacement Bridge for Fender?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'd like, as many MIM owners do, to find a higher mass bridge that will retrofit my Jazz. I can get the action nice and low with the original bridge, but I'd prefer something a little sturdier that I don't have to put plumbers tape on the saddle height screws to keep them in place.

The BAII is popular, but I'm afraid that I'd need to shim the neck to keep my low action, and I just don't really feel like it.

I've been looking at Gotoh, and I'd prefer something with the quick load option. It's just nice to be able to pull strings right off without winding and unwinding the wrappings around the tuning pegs... makes it easier for reinstallation in emergencies.

I know I'm picky, but anything that will screw right onto my MIM Jazz, sturdy saddles, and a little bit higher mass than the bent plate, for under $100 (preferably under $80 new) would be super!

Those 20 dollar Grizzly bridges look like a Gotoh 201 with a beefier plate. Might be worth a try.

Hipshot vintage bent. I've got one headed for a new project bass (just waiting on the finish). It is heavier than stock fender, not as heavy as a badass, but not a super thick plate. The strings load from the top through notches, so you dont' even have to thread them through a little hole.
