replacement bridge help

Sign in to disble this ad
Over the past month I have been restoring a 60's Kay SG bass. I am having a terrible problem with the intonation. A friend recommend a replace the bridge to upgrade from the very basic old school one that is on it.
Since this is a short scale bass I am having a very hard time finding one that fits the correct measurements. A few of the bridges I have tried (ibanez, carvin) are too big and the strings don't line up with the neck.
can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks

The Schaller that's adjustable sideways will go down to 2 1/8" string spacing IIRC.

You could also remove the saddles and put a piece of wood in there like Hagstrom if it's one of those Fender style bridges with two strings per adjusting screw.

I don't know how well it would fit on the body of your bass, but the Kahler 2440 bridge has adjustable spacing, with string-to-string distance as close as 14mm.
