Replacement bridge question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I am currently playing a 1976 Gibson G-3 bass and Im looking to upgrade the bridge from the stock factory one. Im not really interested in preserving the vintage condition, I just want maximum playability. My question is what would be the best bridge to get in terms of installation and playability?

Id get a Badass or leave it stock.
I recently bought a Gotoh201 for $40 and love it.... but thats on my $155 Yamaha. Not a 70's Gibson.

Yeah I was going to get the badass 2. I have it on my modulus and I absolutely love it. My only concern is that the bass uses through body stringing and i was hoping to keep the strings through the bridge. I know the badass 3 has the through body option but Im not sure how any of the Leo Quan bridges are going to fit on it. I understand some holes will need to be drilled, but I would like to keep that to a minimum.

Yea as far as what needs drilling I have no clue. Keep in mind though that whatever extra holes you drill will probably be covered by the original bridge if you ever choose to put it back on.

Hipshot makes a direct replacement.

Would the Hipshot replacement be comparable to the Badass?
