Replacement tuners - for AVRI '57 P bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all - what size tuners do I need for this? I don't really have a problem with the stock ones, functionally, just that the reverse turn is kind of irritating, so I thought I'd keep my eyes open for some replacements on the TB classifieds. I started watching some threads and noticed that there are different sizes available, so I am totally not sure what size I need or even how the size is measured. Is it the size of the headstock hole into which the tuner peg is inserted? Any brands come highly recommended? I had a 2008 American Standard P bass, and liked the stock tuners with it, they looked like the Hipshot ones.

Also thinking about a bridge replacement, but would prefer one that has string through body, is not a Bad Ass bridge, and if I could get my hands on a stock one from a new American Standard, that'd be awesome. Any other bridges I should keep my eyes open for?

Bill,
Get yourself a set of Gotoh's GB640 Res-O-Lite tuners.
They're the same as your current stock Fender reverse tuners,
only they're much lighter and geared to turn in the opposite
direction of the stock reverse tuners. In other words, when looking
down on the tuner from above, turning the cloverleaf counter-
clockwise tightens the string.

If you go this route, just make sure you don't order the GBR640 model. The "R" is
for "reverse."

I got mine from this guy for about $108 shipped.

Cheers,
Will
