Replacement tuners for Les Paul - 1/2 or 3/8?

I'm considering replacing the tuners on my Epiphone LP standard bass with some Hipshot Ultralights. I see that they sell them in 1/2" or 3/8" sizes. Which would be proper as a replacement on my Epi?

it should be the smaller ones, as the bigger ones are made for big open-gear fender keys.
