Replacing 97 carvin LB75 wilkenson bridge

I thought I'd ask the collective Carvin owners here if they have made this modification?

I recently scored a Carvin hipshot style 5 string bridge. The spacing on this bridge is about 3/16" wider than the stock wilkenson top loader between the outside strings. This is going on a narrow spacing LB75 Carvin. Eye balling it, it looks like the strings will be very close to the edges of the neck but still over it. Is this a problem? I stopped short yesterday of doing the change out when I realized I need a smaller hex wrench I don't have for the saddle height adjustment.

I emailed Carvin about this awhile back and they told me that the Hipshot is not a direct replacement for my LB76 and you would be required to drill new holes for the bridge. They could not tell me a bridge that would be a direct replacement either. I was looking for a new bridge because the intonation screws were bent and stripped. I could not find adequate replacement parts anywhere on the net, so I had to find machine screws with the correct thread for the saddles and then machine the screw head with my bench grinder to make them fit into the wholes in the back of the bridge. Works good now, but had to do some engineering.

I still haven't done the changeover, waiting to see if any carvin owners have done this mod and if they had any problems/sugggestions? TIA
