Replacing bridge on a Dean Razor?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys and gals. I have a Dean Razor standard four string.
I've been breaking strings at the bridge semi-regularly now for
two years. The last time, I noticed that there are some grooves
on the saddle for the G string. I've had it in to my local shop and
had it filed a couple of times. My tech told me that he could only
do that so many times. I think I'm just ready to replace it.

The thing I'm wondering about is, is what bridge could I use as
a replacement? I see several brands advertised in the TB
classifieds, but I'm reluctant to buy because I don't know what
will fit my bass.

I don't understand why a manufacturer would use a material that
isn't strong enough to do the job it's supposed to. I posted the
same thing on the Dean forum, and five days later.... no response
from anyone. I'm really hoping that someone here can point me
in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Is there any way you can post a picture of the bridge on you bass, hopefully in a way that shows the screws that hold it onto the bass. I can't find a closeup your basses bridge on the net to tell what it comes with. I will try to help but maybe the folks over at the Dean site will know more.

Replacing a bridge can be simple or really tough - some times they drop right in and work fine BUT even a bridge that has the same screw pattern can be a problem if the range of saddle height adjustments on the new bridge is not sufficient or the string spacing is not right for your instrument or style. You have to look at all the dimensions to know if things will work for your bass.

Peace,
S

I'll try and post a pic. I've never done it here, so I don't know how.
I have a digital camera, and a USB hookup on my computer.
Other than that, I don't know how to put the picture up here.

Thanks for trying to help. And welcome to TalkBass!
