replacing bridge with different string spacing?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a cheap replacement bridge for my 5 string.. when i measured the string spacing it measured about 12mm. All the bridges ive found are around 16mm. would there be any reason why the 16mm wouldn't work other then having to get used to the new spacing?

the neck might not be wide enough, so measure twice and well...

BTW, string spacing is measured center-to-center, so 12mm sounds awkwardly tight... is your measurement correct?

I swapped the bridge on my TRB (stock spacing 18mm) to a gotoh (19mm). no problems, as the fingerboard had plenty of spare room...

+1 on checking neck width. I've a gorgeous Cort B5 I'd love to widen the spacing on, but the neck sadly isn't wide enough.

What bass?
