Replacing the bridge on a guitar

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a super noob question, but I have discovered from past experience, it's better to ask stupid questions than **** something up really bad. I have a guitar with a Kahler Tremolo system, and it's been a real pain in the arse. A while ago, I got some advice from TBers about fixing my problem, which was this:

If you'll look at the part that would hold the high e string, you'll notice it's broken. I didn't know what to call it, so I didn't know where to order a replacement. I was helped out by my TB brothers, but I didn't order one, I just got use to a 5 string guitar. Laziness mostly.

Well, I broke another. Instead of researching to find out what this is called again, and ordering it's replacement, I'd rather just buy a bridge that won't break on me. I'm not super rough on my guitar, I don't know why this is happening.

Anyways, what are the requirements of a replacement guitar bridge, does it have to be the exact same size/length or what?
