Question Replacing a bridge on an Ibanez

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all, I am looking for some input on my dilemma. My Soundgear 1000 4 string bass is almost 20 years old and the bridge needs to be replaced.

Ibanez has discontinued my particular type so I need to purchase from a third party. I am not much of a gear head and I know nothing about the various kinds of bridges out there.

I am quite certain that I will have to take it to a professional because I can't seem to find a proper replacement with Schaller, Badass, or ABM.

So.....What are your recommendations for my particular bass?

BTW, I just found out about this site about a month ago and I think it's absolutely amazing.

Cheers,
Kevin

I googled your bass and saw a decent pic of the original bridge. I have one like it in the shop now from Funkster that I can oggle and I think you would be most happy with the Schaller Roller bridge. It would offer about the same amount of weight and the adjustments are superior to most bridges on the market. It's got a low profile and finish is usually very fine. I've used them on several of my builds and I endorse them heartily.

Any comments on Gotoh bridges?

I can't seem to find a website for this company either.
