Replacing bridge on Peavey Fury

I have a Peavey Fury IV and the bridge on it looks a bit cheap and tacky. As this is only my 2nd bass and the other one was a £50 piece of garbage, I don't know much about this stuff. I was thinking about a Leo Badass. would this make much difference (good difference) to my bass

Is your P/v this "older" type, or the newer 'quilt-top' model?...

 

Either way, if you're lookin at a B/A (II I'm guessin'?) check
the mounting holes. If you want a "drop-in" replacement
they're five-in-line on a B/A II (right pic)...

 

Also, on a II, a groove should be filed in each saddle.

The extra work is worth it though, if you're goin' for a tone
rich in 'clank' and sustain. If you've the older style Fury, you'll
have a close approximation of a Fender Steve Harris model -
Badass II bridge and P type pickup.

Gotoh 201's are another option. Also w/five-in-line mounting holes.
They're not quite as massive as a Badass II. Still, they offer a rich
tone and good sustain. They have a smaller "footprint" than a
B/A II if that's a consideration.

I had the "older" type Peavey Fury before getting my Rickenbacker... let's just say you can't polish a turd. And in this case, you sure as hell can't stick a flag in it, either. Putting a Badass II on one of those would be like putting a huge spoiler wing on a Yugo. The bridge would be worth more than the bass.

With Badass' goin' for ~$40 and Gotoh's ~$20, that's sayin' a bunch.

I'm curious f-e...what was your major complaint about that Fury?
tone / pickup, the neck, etc.

I brought my Fury about 6 months ago so I presume that it is the new model. What is the difference between the old and new models??

hey thats my one Yeah its active. great variation with the 3 band eq but im just seeing if a new bridge will make it an even better sound

basically I just want to get the best sound possible for as little cash as i can. I am only 15 and my mum is refusing to let me have any more equipment like new amps as I just brought a PA! So a new bridge...

hmm...

I can't really tell from the pic of the "new" one, but the bridge
looks pretty substantial. Of course, like you said, it could be
cheap and/or tacky (lightweight materials maybe?).

Have you given any thought to new strings? Do you have the
same strings that came with it? They could be dead and a
good boilin' could bring `em back to life. There are a few threads
on that in the strings forum. If ya' decide to go new, Here's a
UK online retailer that carries some good brands -- http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/.

(new strings == LESS £££'s than a new bridge)

Hey good point. They are still the original strings. mabe its jsut that. Ill give them a change first before I go with the new bridge thing. Any recomended brand? If you need to know I play rock in the same sort of style as....mmm....Feeder.

All of the above.

The tone has not enough low end for me. The pickups are light and weak. The neck is so skinny that it feels like a twig while I play it. The thing's just too light. The frets were quite uneven. And my neck started to backbow and twist.
