Replacing knobs on a MIM Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to replace the Strat knobs on my mid-'90s Fender Jazz bass with the proper bakelite knobs. I ordered the genuine Fender parts, but the replacement tone knob sits really high in the pot shaft. Does it need a different pot, do I need to shave the shaft with a Dremel, or am I just doing something stupid?

Nah, that's how it is with the tone knob. You can dremel off the top of the shaft, or put another washer underneath the control plate to make the pot sit lower.
